Broward County Healthcare Coalition Services Offered
The Broward County Healthcare Coalition (BCHC) is committed to strengthening healthcare system preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation across Broward County. As a collaborative network of healthcare providers, emergency responders, and community stakeholders, BCHC ensures healthcare resilience in the face of disasters and public health emergencies.
Healthcare crises can place immense strain on local systems. BCHC bridges the gap by uniting a diverse network of partners, ensuring effective coordination, resource sharing, and a proactive approach to emergency response and recovery.

Training
BCHC provides essential training programs to prepare healthcare professionals for emergency situations. Our diverse training formats—including hands-on, in-person, virtual, and hybrid sessions—equip healthcare staff with critical skills such as situational awareness, stress first aid, and decontamination procedures.
Scenario-based exercises, such as Incident Command System (ICS) training, enhance decision-making and coordination, empowering participants to manage real-world crises with confidence. Additionally, virtual training options from programs like TEEX, LSU, and FEMA ensure accessibility, allowing members to learn at their own pace.
By offering comprehensive training, BCHC strengthens emergency response capabilities, ensuring a unified, well-prepared healthcare workforce.
Networking
Collaboration is at the heart of BCHC’s mission. Our coalition provides free quarterly meetings, committee discussions, and regional conferences, offering members opportunities to connect, share expertise, and strengthen emergency preparedness efforts.
Through networking events, members can:
- Exchange insights with healthcare professionals, emergency managers, and public health leaders.
- Learn best practices from experts and bring new strategies back to their organizations.
- Stay engaged through BCHC’s newsletters and ongoing updates on emergency preparedness resources.

Exercises
BCHC facilitates HSEEP-compliant exercises to help healthcare facilities and emergency partners prepare for a range of crisis scenarios. These exercises allow members to test and refine their response plans in realistic, controlled settings.
- Tabletop Exercises: Focus on critical incident response, including radiation exposure, hazardous material spills, cyberattacks, and burn injuries.
- Hands-On Drills: Practical simulations such as hurricane preparedness, generator failures, and communication system tests enhance readiness.
- Full-Scale Exercises: High-intensity scenarios like mass casualty events and active assailant incidents provide real-world training to improve response coordination.
These free exercises for coalition members promote a coordinated, efficient emergency response, strengthening healthcare resilience across Broward County.
