Strengthening Healthcare Preparedness in Broward County
The Broward County Healthcare Coalition (BCHC) is a collaborative network of healthcare organizations and community partners committed to enhancing emergency preparedness and response across Broward County. Through strategic planning, training, resource sharing, and coordinated response efforts, we help healthcare providers, emergency responders, and community stakeholders prepare for and respond to public health emergencies and disasters.
By fostering strong partnerships, BCHC ensures that local healthcare systems remain resilient, protecting the health and well-being of residents and visitors during times of crisis.
Our Mission
To develop and promote effective collaboration, planning, training, exercises, response, recovery, and mitigation within Broward County’s healthcare system—strengthening the county’s ability to handle emergencies and ensuring a coordinated, efficient response when disaster strikes.
A Coalition with a Purpose
How We Started
The Broward County Healthcare Coalition was established as part of a national initiative following the events of September 11, 2001. Recognizing the need for a more coordinated approach to healthcare preparedness, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, through the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), introduced programs to improve emergency readiness within healthcare systems nationwide.
As a result, BCHC was formed as a dedicated, county-focused coalition that brings together healthcare organizations, emergency responders, and government agencies to ensure collaborative, effective disaster response efforts.
