A Message from the Coalition Lead
As we reflect on the first quarter of 2024, we are proud of the progress made by the Broward County Healthcare Coalition in enhancing healthcare preparedness and response capabilities within our community. Through a series of training sessions, workshops, and collaborative efforts, we have continued to strengthen the readiness of healthcare professionals across Broward County. We are excited to share the highlights from the past quarter, including key trainings and monthly meetings designed to support our members in improving emergency preparedness.
Past Activities & Trainings Hosted by the Coalition
Radiological Operations Course – July 16, 2024
On July 16, 2024, we hosted the Radiological Operations Course, a critical training for healthcare professionals and emergency responders in Broward County. The course provided essential knowledge on how to respond to radiological emergencies, including contamination control, protective measures, and emergency medical response. This training was vital for ensuring our partners are prepared to handle radiological incidents safely and efficiently.
Hospital WebEOC Training – July 15, 2024 Hosted by Emergency Management
In partnership with Emergency Management, the Hospital WebEOC Training was held on July 15, 2024, to enhance the proficiency of hospital staff in using the WebEOC emergency management system. This tool is critical for communication, coordination, and resource management during crises. The training provided hands-on experience to ensure hospital teams can effectively manage incidents and respond quickly when emergencies arise.
CEMP Workshop – Virtual with Bold Planning – September 19, 2024
On September 19, 2024, we hosted a Virtual CEMP Workshop in collaboration with Bold Planning. The workshop focused on helping healthcare facilities develop or refine their Comprehensive Emergency Management Plans (CEMP). Participants learned how to create actionable plans that include mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery strategies. This workshop ensured that participants are equipped with the knowledge to enhance their healthcare organization’s resilience during emergencies.
Activation 101 Workshop – September 10, 2024 With Department of Health and Office of Emergency Management
The Activation 101 Workshop, held on September 10, 2024, was organized with the Department of Health in Broward County and the Office of Emergency Management in Broward County. This workshop provided participants with in-depth information and processes on how to activate emergency operations plans efficiently during a crisis. Key topics covered included resource allocation, inter-agency coordination, and decision-making under pressure. This session was invaluable for ensuring healthcare organizations are ready to take swift, coordinated action when disaster strikes.
Monthly Meetings – 4th Wednesday of Each Month
The Broward County Healthcare Coalition continues to host monthly meetings on the 4th Wednesday of each month. These meetings are a critical opportunity for our members to discuss ongoing initiatives, share best practices, and collaborate on enhancing community-wide preparedness. We encourage all members to send a representative to these meetings to stay informed and actively participate in shaping the future of healthcare emergency management in Broward County.
