SUMMARY:Designated Infection Control Officer (DICO) Training Course
DESCRIPTION:This two day course is designed to prepare the designated infection control Officer to meet the requirements for this position as presented in the Ryan White Law\, Part G\, OSHA and NFPA 1581. State and Federal laws related to this position will also be presented. The Ryan White Law states that each EMS and law enforcement agency must have a designated officer to manage exposure issues for members of the department. Understanding this role and responsibilities is important to assist with department risk management and department member advocacy. Establishing the role and responsibilities along with a job description are presented along with step by step program formulation to enable the course participant to return to their department and establish a working program. A course book\, and flash drive with supportive references will be included. \nTarget Audience: Registered Nurses\, Fire Rescue/EMS Providers\, and other Allied Health Professionals that focus on Infection Control.
